I am Pau Guillamon Jaime, an enthusiast in technology and software development. I was born in 1989 near beautiful Barcelona, where I lived for 29 years, then I moved to Stuttgart (Germany). I have a degree in computer science by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona with an emphasis in compilers, artificial intelligence and computer graphics. I describe myself as a self-motivated person who is not afraid to start new projects or try the newest developments. I love videogames and the art of making them: I think it’s one of the most challenging and rewarding things to do. It’s a complex process which mixes many different skills in order to accomplish the same goal: entertain the player.
My goal with this website is to have a place where I can publish all of the projects I have completed and have been working on and share them with the world. I have a passion for what I do and I think that it shows clearly in my work.
Software development
I am always thinking about software development and the best way to apply the best practices and design patterns when needed. But my key principle is KISS, “Keep it simple, stupid!”, which is very useful to avoid overengineering. I’m used to work with all of these technologies:
- C/C++
- Java and Kotlin
- some C#
- OpenGL 3.3 intermediate
- vertex, geometry and fragment shaders
- framebuffers
- lighting and shadows (lighting maps, directional and omnidirectional shadow maps)
- normal mapping
- Git and SVN
- GMock (Unit Test for C++) and Unity (Unit Test framework for C)
- Android development
- Android Native Development Kit (NDK)
- Unity 3D
One interesting thing about me is that I try to learn all of the useful keyboard shortcuts so I can easily perform the same action or command without moving my hands from the keyboard.
Hobbies
My hobbies are software development, videogames and music. I am learning to play the drums, which is not a natural born gift, but I love the challenge and I have fun playing it. For some years I was the drummer of a Catalan rock band called Som Guineus.
